George IV, dated 1823. 11.4ins high, 10.6ins wide, 0.8ins deep. Antique Dutch Darning Sampler dated 1823.

The sampler is worked in cotton on linen ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.

No border. Colours red and cream.

Signed and dated 'EMH 1823'.

A wonderful set of darning panels worked in various styles and patterns.

Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass.

Mounting: The sampler is stitched to card. Frame backed with cardboard.

CONDITION: Generally Good. No holes.

A few patchy stains.

No stitch losses. One loose thread.

Colours are all good and strong.

No colour run.

Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame showing some wear, but is structurally sound and in our opinion could be hung 'as is'.
