The embroideries are worked in a variety of threads and materials, on a felt-like ground.
Figures faces and hands are worked in paper.
Colours brown, cream, green, copper, gold, black and red.

The first embroidery, titled 'Waiting', depicts a girl seated under a tree, with a dog on a lead at her side.
The second embroidery, titled 'Courting', depicts a young lady and gentleman walking a dog.
The third embroidery, titled 'Betrothed', depicts a young couple in a country setting, with a dog.
The final embroidery, titled 'Forlorn', depicts a girl seated under a tree, with a goat by her side.
All framed in matching old (possibly original), gilded gesso frames, with rippled old glass.
Mounting: The embroideries are fixed to board. Frame backed with brown paper.
CONDITION: Good.
Some stitch losses to clothing.
Some repair work to paper.
A few small holes to clothing.
Colours are slightly faded, but still well defined.
No colour run.
Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frames in good condition, ready to hang.
