Rare Staffordshire Spaniel Head Tobacco Jar & Cover

Victorian, circa 1860. 6.1ins high, 4.3ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery tobacco jar and cover which features a double faced spaniel's head with a smaller spaniel modelled as the knop to the lid.

Dull gilt embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.

CONDITION: Cover: Generally good.

A few paint losses to russet glaze.

RESTORATION. Dog knop reglued and join retouched.

Pot: Generally good.

Some rubbing to gilt.

RESTORATION. Filled chips to rim and inner rim.

Two stabilised and retouched hairlines to rim.

Retouching to paint losses.
