
Victorian, circa 1870. 7.9ins high, 8.7ins wide, 6.7ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery egg tureen and cover which features a hen sitting with her eggs,
seated on a basketweave oval base.
White and gilt version. Bright gilt base line and embellishment.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
CONDITION: Hen: Good.
Chip to base edge.
Some rubbing to gilt.
RESTORATION. A few overpainted flakes to the crest.
Nest: Good. No restoration.
Two small shallow chips to inner rim.
Slight rubbing to gilt.
KILN EFFECTS: kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the interior;
shrinkage crack to the rim.
