
pre-Victorian, circa 1820. 11.4ins high, 6.3ins wide, 5.7ins depth. Staffordshire Pottery pearlware bocage figure with a religious theme
which features a bearded man holding a plaque, with the words 'CHRIST. TEACHETH NICODEMUS 10HN3.CH.3' inscribed on it, seated on a shaped base.
Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse.
Open bottomed.
This piece represents Nicodemus.
CONDITION: Good.
Small flake to left cuff.
KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze his gown,
right arm and hand.
RESTORATION. Remodelled right hand.
Five or so filled chips to bocage leaf tips. A couple of leaves reglued and joins retouched.
