The piece bears maker's marks for the Bordalo Pinheiro pottery.

Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1889.

KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage cracks to one shell.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to largest shell.

Two remodelled parts of shredded clay.

Retouched chip to seaweed and shell.
