Minton Majolica Hughes Protat Putti Ewer

Victorian, circa 1862. 15.2ins high, 9.1ins wide, 4.7ins depth. Minton Majolica ewer which features a central barrel decorated with fruiting grape vines and four putti seated around a tapered neck.

Colouration: green, cream, ochre, are predominant.

The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Bears a pattern number, '900'.

Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1862.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Generally good.

KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze.

RESTORATION. Remodelled spout, rim and scrolls (over spray to cherubs).

Handle reglued and joins retouched (retouching around the bottom of the handle).
