George Jones Majolica Strawberry Serving Dish

Victorian, circa 1873. 8.7ins high, 9.4ins wide, 1.2ins depth. George Jones Majolica serving dish which features strawberries, leaves and blossoms surrounding a central well. Cobalt blue ground version. Colouration: cobalt blue, pink, green, are predominant.

Bears a pattern number, '3221'. English diamond registration mark for the date 23/04/1873.

 

Condition

CONDITION: Good. Slight wear.

KILN EFFECTS: a few specks of kiln detritus caught in the glaze.

RESTORATION. Filled chip to under rim.

Retouched paint losses to ribbon.
