
George III, dated 1781. 11.5ins by 7.5ins wide. 1781 Antique Sampler by Elizabeth Royce. Framed in an old ebonised wooden frame, with rippled old glass.
Loose mounted onto card. Wood backing, with paper cover.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye.
Rolling waves border.
Colours red, blue, yellow, green, brown and cream. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and numbers 1-9.
Verse reads,
'When I be gone God give
me speed With Grace and
Virtue to Proceed That
I may run that happy Race
That Haven may be my
Dwelling Place'.
Signed and dated
'Elizab Royce August 1 1781'.

A few small holes/pulls to the ground.
A few very slight patchy stains.
No stitch losses.
Colours are generally bright.
No colour run.
Stretching is slightly uneven.
Frame has a few chips and some wear, but is in generally good condition, ready to hang.
