
George III, dated 1761. 7.5ins high by 7ins wide. Antique Sampler, 1761, by Mary Lee. Framed in an old wood frame with rippled, old glass.
Stitched to fabric with card and brown paper backing.
The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.
Decorative border. Colours blues, red, yellow, white, pink, greens and cream.
Verse reads, 'O make thy reconciled Face>Upon thy Servant fhine>And Save me for thy Mercy fake>For I am entirely thine'.
Signed and dated, 'Mary Lee 1761'.
A few motifs including potted flowering plants, birds, flowers, crowns, hearts, fruit trees and thistles.
CONDITION: Generally good. No holes. No stains other than uniform age darkening of the ground. No stitch losses. Some colours faded making them difficult to read.
No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
