Antique Sampler, c.1810, by Elizabeth Jump

Circa 1810. 12ins high by 11.5ins wide. Elizabeth Jump Sampler. Framed in an old maple frame with rippled, old glass.

Loose mounted with wood backing.

The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground, in a variety of stitches including Algerian eye.

No border.

Colours blue, cream, yellow, copper, black, pink, green and browns.

A good set of motifs, some finely embroidered, including a house,

butterflies,

a robin,

a parrot,

lions,

birds,

potted flowering plants,

stags,

fruit baskets,

blossoming trees,

a lady and a gentleman,

flower baskets

and a sailing ship

CONDITION: Good.

A few holes and pulls to the ground.

No stains.

No stitch losses.

Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading.

No colour run.

Stretching is slightly uneven.

Frame showing some wear and has a gap on one or more of the corners, but in our opinion still sturdy enough to hang.
