WMF liqueur jug & tray
Circa 1910. Jug: 9ins high, Tray: 13.5ins wide.
WMF Art Nouveau liqueur jug and tray.
1/4 pint jug with pierced, silver plated frame on four feet.
Maiden's head on either side of the base, and stylized flowers in relief around the top.
Scroll handle and removable stopper.
Green glass liner.
Impressed maker's marks to reverse of one foot 'WMF' ostrich mark, 'I/O' (normal thickness of plating/gilding), 'OX' (oxidized) and a star mark (export-ware or special production?).
Impressed mark 'FRATH ROLLER/BUCAREST' to base edge.
Impressed 'I/O' (normal thickness of plating/gilding) to stopper flange.
Best nickel silver tray with pierced rim.
Four ball feet to underside.
Impressed maker's marks to underside edge 'as' (antique silver finish), 'WMF' ostrich mark and 'I/O' (normal thickness of plating/gilding).
Service would originally have been complete with glasses, which are missing.
Illustrated on page 129, catalogue number 190/6, 'Art Nouveau Domestic Design from Wurttembergische Metallwaren Fabrik' published by the 'Antique Collectors Club'.
Condition
Generally good. No repairs.
Jug: Some wear to frame.
Slight tarnishing to frame, handle and stopper.
Tray: Wear and tarnishing to the front.
Scratched patch to reverse.
