French Majolica Palissy crocodile platter

Circa 1880. 9.25ins by 13.75ins wide. French Majolica Palissy platter with a crocodile in the center on shells and seaweed.

Surrounded by a lobster, frog and various fish with leaves, berries, blackberries, snails, a snake and insects on the edge.





Brown and cream reverse with stilt marks.

Condition

Fair. No hairlines. No chips.

Repair across platter where it has been in half.









Repair to crocodile's neck.
