J.F. Sousa Majolica Palissy fish wall plate

Circa 1890. 8ins diameter. Jose Francisco de Sousa Majolica Palissy wall plate with eight fish lying overlapped on green shredded clay ground.



Detailed moldings and good glaze decoration. Two wall hanging holes to foot rim.



Impressed maker's mark stylized 'JFS' monogram in an oval to reverse.


Condition

Good. No restoration. No cracks. No hairlines. No chips. Two small flakes, one to tail and one to fin of the smallest fish.





Kiln effect: a few tiny pieces of kiln dirt to a couple of the fish.
