Charles II Antique Stumpwork Embroidery Picture. Framed in an old black wood frame with rippled, dimpled, old glass. Fixed to a wood stretcher frame with paper backing. The embroidery is very finely worked in silks on a silk ground. Metallic threads used to create a intricately woven border. Worked in a variety of stitches with areas of raised work, edged in lace. Colours greens, gold, blues and brown. Pictorial scene depicts a very well dressed young couple, surrounded by a variety of animals, insects and flowers. A castle can be seen in the background.
