Description:

17th Century Band sampler. Framed in an old wood frame with gilt slip and glass. Mounted to conservator standards on acid free card with chipboard backing. The sampler is worked in silk on linen ground. Divider lines in a wonderful variety of patterns. Colours green, blue, red, white, cream and black. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case. No signature or date. Consists of a variety of elaborately worked floral and foliate bands. Motifs include: boxers; lions, an archer, acorns, flowers and thistles.

Condition Summary:

Good. Any fading, hole, stain, defect or stitch loss that may be present, is minor and not detracting.
