Minton Majolica centrepiece bowl with a mythological theme which features maidens and putti. The bowl is supported by two tritons. Colouration: cobalt blue, pink, green, are predominant. This piece was shown at the London Exhibition of 1862. See 'The Art Journal Illustrated Catalogue of the International Exhibition', London 1862, p. 126 for line drawings of Minton wares, including the present form. The piece bears maker's marks for the Minton pottery. Marks include a factory specific date cipher for the year 1865.
