Description: Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a girl and a boy each stood in front of a donkey, stood on an oval base. Multi-coloured version. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the reverse. Maker's marks to the underside of one. Book reference,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 3, by A.& N. Harding, page 235, figure A2376a.
Condition: Female: Generally good. Slight rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: faint shrinkage line along the mold join of the donkey's saddle. RESTORATION. tail reglued and join retouched. Stabilized and retouched hairlines to right front and left hind ankle, and to underside of base. Retouching to girl's hair and donkey's left eye. Male: Generally good. Very slight rubbing to gilt. RESTORATION. Boy' s head reglued and join retouched. Remodeled donkey's ears. Stabilized and retouched hairline to hind left leg, right hind ankle and to underside of base.
Dimensions: Tallest is 9.8ins high, 7.5ins wide, 4.3ins depth
