| Description: | Pair of Parr Factory Staffordshire figures with a religious theme which feature a Priest and a young woman each holding a Bible, stood on a circular base. We think they have possibly been matched up together at some stage because they have significantly different crazing. The pieces are titled, 'PROTESTANTISM.' and 'POPERY.' to the fronts. Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside. Book reference,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding, page 35, figure 1748/1749. |
