Staffordshire 'Giselle' dancing lady figure

Period: Victorian, circa 1860
Description: Staffordshire figure with a theatrical and literary theme which features Giselle, stood on a circular base. Multi-coloured with underglaze blue version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the reverse. This piece represents the ballet 'Giselle ou Les Wilis'.. Book reference,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding, page 341, figure 1282.
Condition: Good. A few paint losses to pink trim on left leg, right shoe and flower in her hair. Some rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: small firing pits to reverse; over glazed shrinkage lines to her right leg. RESTORATION. Retouching to skirt at reverse, hair, hat and pink detailing.
