| Staffordshire figure with a maritime theme which features a sailor, stood on an oval base. Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. | Generally good. Tight hairline to the underside of the base. Gilt almost entirely rubbed away. KILN EFFECTS: small firing pit to the sailor's stomach; over glazed chip, shrinkage cracks and marks to hat brim; flecks of stray coloured glaze to the reverse. RESTORATION: Stabilized and retouched shrinkage cracks to under sailor's arms and between his legs. Retouched abrasion to nose, and paint losses to belt and neck tie. Neck reglued and join retouched. |
