Description: Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel, recumbent directly on the ground, no base. White and gilt version. Bright gilt embellishment. Flatback, decorated only to the front. Vent hole to the underside. Book reference not found.
Condition: Right facing: Good. Rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage marks along the mold join to spaniel's back and left front leg; notable crazing; a few pieces of kiln detritus caught in the glaze to front; small firing pit to just above right front paw. RESTORATION. Retouching to nose and muzzle. Left facing: Good. Rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: bruise to underside of left front leg; notable crazing; touch mark to the reverse. RESTORATION. Retouching to muzzle.
