Pair Staffordshire gilt & white 'chunky' spaniels

Description: Pair of Staffordshire figures which feature a spaniel, seated directly on the ground, no base. White and gilt version. Bright gilt embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the underside. Book reference,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 3, by A.& N. Harding, page 243, figure a2469A/a2469B.
Condition: Right facing: Good. No restoration. Small flake to collar and behind right ear. Some rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing; over glazed bruises to the reverse of the left ear. Left facing: Good. No restoration. Some rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing; touch mark to the top of the left ear; small firing pits to right ear; shrinkage line along the mold join to chest, ears, head and back.
