Description: Staffordshire egg tureen and cover which features a hen with her seven chicks. One of the chicks is perched on her back, the others peep out from underneath her, seated directly on the ground, no base. Multi-coloured version. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Book reference not found.
Condition: Cover: Generally good. No restoration. A few paint losses to crest, left eye and beak. KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing; kiln soot caught in the glaze; glaze misses to the hen; over glazed shrinkage lines to the tail feathers. Base: Generally good. No restoration. A few paint losses to chicks. KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing; kiln soot caught in the glaze; over glazed shrinkage lines around the chicks
