Pair Staffordshire 'Milk Sold Here' cow spill vases

Period: Victorian, circa 1860
Description: Staffordshire spill vase with a pastoral theme which features a cow, stood on an oval base. We think they have possibly been matched up together at some stage because they are of different colouration, however we feel they go together very well. The piece is titled, 'MILK SOLD HERE' . Russet and white version. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Flatback, decorated only to the front. Book reference,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 2, by A.& N. Harding, page 240, figure 2895/2896.
Condition: Right facing: Generally good. A few paint losses to tail, and russet markings and leaves. Slight rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage crack to the underside of belly; kiln detritus caught in the glaze to the front and reverse. RESTORATION. Old restoration to neck, horns, eyes and muzzle. Left facing: Generally good. Some rubbing to gilt. KILN EFFECTS: touch mark to the top of front left leg; glaze miss to the tail and the rump; notable crazing. RESTORATION. Old restoration to horns, top of back left leg and top of spill.
