| Staffordshire figures which features a boy and a girl each on the back of a St. Bernard with Disreali curls on it's head, stood on an oblong base. Multi-coloured version. Dull gilt base line. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to reverse of one. This piece represents the Prince and Princess of Wales in their youth. | Right facing: Generally good. Small flake to hat. KILN EFFECTS: notable crazing; shrinkage lines to the front and reverse and dog's nose, chest and legs; over glazed shrinkage crack to his left arm at reverse and below his left leg. RESTORATION: Retouched paint losses to his hair,and shoes and dog's paws, muzzle and eyes. Retouched bruises to reverse and upper base edge at front. Retouched flake to top of hat. Left facing: Good. Small flake to her left sleeve. KILN EFFECTS: shrinkage line along the mold join; shrinkage crack to her dress; flecks of stray coloured glaze to the hat at reverse. RESTORATION: Retouched paint losses to her hair, shoes and skirt and the dog's eyes and nose. |
