Period: Victorian, circa 1860
Description: Staffordshire figure with a political theme which features the Duke of Wellington, stood on a shaped base. Dull gilt base line and embellishment. Decorated 'in the round' - decoration to front and reverse. Vent hole to the reverse. Maker's marks painted to the underside. Book reference,'Victorian Staffordshire Figures 1835-1875' Book 1, by A.& N. Harding, page 146, figure 371.
Condition: Good. Very slight rubbing to gilt. Slight wear to his nose, lower base edge and top of base. KILN EFFECTS: touch marks to the reverse of the draped cloak; the black glaze has discoloured over time. RESTORATION. Retouched paint losses to his jacket, shoes and neck tie.
