Description: 1808 Scottish Sampler by Mary Thomson. Framed in an old wood frame with glass. Fixed to card. The sampler is worked in wool on canvas ground, in cross stitch and Algerian eye. Divider lines in various patterns. Colours red, pink, green and yellow. Alphabets A-Z in upper case and lower case and family initials. Signed and dated 'JULY 1808 MARY THOMSON'. Single heart motif.
Condition: Generally good. A few holes. A few patchy stains. Stitch losses to the border, divider lines, the signature, motif and letters. Colours are slightly faded but still well defined. No colour run. Stretching is very slightly uneven. Repair work to the date and the border at the top. Frame showing slight wear, otherwise sound.
