Description: 1801 Silkwork Map Sampler by E. Nock. Framed in a modern wood veneer and gilt frame with non-reflection glass. Fixed to card behind an oval mount card, with card backing. The sampler is worked in silk on very fine linen ground, in a variety of stitches. Embroidered border. Colours gold, cream, light blue, red and black. Signed and dated 'A Map of EUROPE Wyken School 1801 E. Nock'. Depicts a map of Europe with the capitals, and surrounding seas/oceans.
Condition: Good. A few small holes. Some patchy staining. No stitch losses. Colours are all good and strong with no noticeable fading. The silks bright and glossy. No colour run. Neatly and evenly stretched. Frame in good condition, ready to hang.
Dimensions: 17.25ins by 14ins wide
