WMF 'Echo' toilet easel mirror
Circa 1910. 11ins wide, 14.5ins high. WMF 'Echo' toilet easel mirror, officially titled ‘The First Cuckoo’. Frame has a maiden on the right hand side, dressed in a flowing robe, leaning in front of the mirror, with her left hand to her ear. Her face reflects in the mirror. Flowers decorate the top right and bottom left corners.

The frame holds the original mirror and has the original wooden backing. An arm is attached to the wooden backing to form a support.
Maker's marks impressed to the back of one foot - WMF (bee hive with top quarter blank), B (Britannia metal, a tin/antinomy alloy), I/O (normal thickness of plating/gilding) and OX (Oxidised).
Similar piece illustrated on page 295, 'Art Nouveau Domestic Design from Wurttembergische Metallwaren Fabrik' published by the 'Antique Collectors Club'.
Condition
Generally good. Some light wear and surface scratches to the frame.
A few deep scratches to the maiden's left arm and shoulder.
Some rubbing to the plating.
A few scratches to the wooden backing.
Three of six screw fastners missing from the back, though the back is still well secured.
Replacement easel and hinge, in the style of the original.
