1831 Gold & Gem hair mourning brooch, 1.5"

1.5ins, central oval locket holding a curled lock of hair. Black enamel surround with an half pearl and onyx cameo forget-me-not foliate border, set in gold. Gold reverse with the inscription, 'Slingsby James Duncombe obt 22 Nov 1831A.Et. 13.' Attachment by pin and clasp or with the attached chain. Very good condition. Slight wear to the glass panel, which is very transparent. Hair is perfectly preserved and unruffled. No chips to the enamel border. No damage to the gold surround. All seed pearls and onyx cameos are present and in good condition. The reverse is in a similar state. No dents, no creases, no rubbing to the inscription, which is highly readable. Pin, clasp and chain are in very good condition.
