Minton Majolica crane & bamboo jardiniere & stand

Minton Majolica cobalt jardiniere and stand. Jardiniere is decorated with cranes, two standing on a branch, another two in flight. Stands on three green feet, pink interior with drainage hole to base. Bamboo pattern decorates rim of both pieces. Impressed maker's marks to underneath of both pieces, with date cipher for 1874 to underneath of stand. Three stilt marks to base of jardiniere with vent hole to each foot and underneath rim of jardiniere. Pads applied to feet to prevent scratching of the stand. Illustrated on page 329, 'The Dictionary of Minton' by Paul Atterbury and Maureen Batkin. CONDITION: Generally good. No hairlines. Minor chip to foot rim of stand. Slight wear to interior of jardiniere. Kiln effects: glaze craters and bubbles to feet, sides of jardiniere, interior and reverse of stand. Restored cracks with associated chips to stand where it has been in two pieces. Two restored under rim chips to foot rim. No restoration to jardiniere.
