Circa 1650 Whitework Band Sampler. Framed in a modern wood frame with slightly rippled glass. Mounted on black acid free card with chipboard dust cover. Worked in fine linen thread on linen in a splendid variety of stitches and whitework techniques including cut and drawn work. No signature or date (normal for the time). Floral and geometric bands and joined panels.. CONDITION: Generally Good. A number of small holes and old repairs. No stains other than fairly uniform age discoloration. Stitch losses to some of the fine work. Stretching is slightly uneven. Frame in very good condition.
