Pair Majolica Palissy crocodile vases

Pair Majolica Palissy vases, each with two large crocodile handles. Decorated to exteriors with shells, flowers, leaves and moths. The rims and shoulders molded with hanging rockwork. Green and cream interiors, brown glaze to bases. Stilt marks to foot rims of both. CONDITION: Generally good. No restoration. No hairlines. Very slight wear. Vase 1: A chip to each flower, a chip to one crocodile's tail, and two chips to hanging rockwork to rim. One flake to one crocodile's tail. Vase 2: A chip to rim, two minor chips to one flower and two chips to hanging rockwork to rim. One flake to one crocodile's tail and one to top of base. Kiln effects: a few glaze bubbles to top of base, glaze crater to neck of vase, piece of kiln detritus inside rim, all to Vase 1. A few overglazed shrinkage cracks to rockwork, rims and inside bases of both.
