George Jones Majolica garden seat

George Jones Majolica circular garden seat decorated with birds, pond lilies, bulrushes, reeds and dragonflies in relief on cobalt ground. Cut away handle to the top. Mottled green and brown glazed interior. Vent holes on the inside. Similar seat illustrated on page 90, Abrams 'Majolica A complete History and illustrated Survey' by Karmason & Stacke.. CONDITION: Good. No cracks. No hairlines. Flake to the edge of one lily leaf. Slight wear to exterior cobalt ground. Minor bruise to seat rim. Kiln effects: a few fine shrinkage lines around the seat rim. A few small pieces of kiln detritus to exterior. Restored chip to beak of one bird, and three of the flowers.
