Mafra Majolica Palissy wall plate with a monkfish, eel, fish and mussel on seaweed ground. Brown reverse with two hanging holes on the foot. Three stilt marks and impressed maker's marks 'M.MAFRA CALDAS PORTUGAL' and inscribed '8' inside the foot.. CONDITION: Good. No cracks. No hairlines. Small chip to inside edge of mussel. Small flake to monkfish's tail fin and hanging holes. Minor flaking to seaweed. Kiln effect: glaze accumulation to the foot. Restored chip to foot, eel's tail and edge of mussel.
